Flights to Zagreb

Zagreb can be visited all year round, but the most pleasant seasons are spring and autumn. Spring, from April to June, brings pleasant temperatures and parks in full bloom, which makes it ideal for sightseeing and walks. The summer months are the liveliest, thanks to the many festivals, concerts and open-air cultural events. Autumn, from September to November, offers a pleasant climate and fewer crowds, while winter is especially attractive because of Advent in Zagreb, one of the most popular Christmas markets in Europe. For most travellers, the best time to visit is from May to October, when the weather is best for exploring the city.

Zagreb Franjo Tuđman International Airport is about 15 kilometres south-east of the city centre. The easiest way to reach the centre is the airport bus, which connects the airport with the Zagreb Bus Station. The ride takes about 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Regular city bus lines also connect the airport with the rest of the city, and taxis and ride-sharing services are available. A taxi ride to the centre of Zagreb usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. For travellers who want maximum flexibility, car rental is also available at the airport.

Don't forget to try traditional Zagreb and Croatian specialities, including štrukli, Zagreb schnitzel and homemade desserts.

Two to three days are enough to see Zagreb's main sights. In that time you can explore the historic centre, the most important museums and parks, and enjoy the local food. If you want to explore the city in more detail, visit more museums or take day trips to nearby destinations such as Samobor, Varaždin or Plitvice Lakes National Park, a stay of four to five days is recommended. Zagreb is an easy city to explore, and a few days will be enough to feel its unique atmosphere and hospitality.
